Project Overview:
Lauren Collander Interiors was invited to design this Naples, Florida vacation home for a longtime client, a retired couple and passionate art collectors, after completing their primary residence in Naperville, Illinois. This one-story Florida home serves as their winter retreat: a place to relax, entertain, host family and grandchildren, while enjoying the luxury of coastal living.
The home didn’t reflect their taste or lifestyle. It felt cold, outdated, and impersonal, with stark white walls, beige furniture, silver metals, and tile flooring throughout. The homeowners were looking for a warm, inviting interior with layered texture, architectural balance, and thoughtful details. They wanted a space that would bring comfort, personality, and function to their Naples retreat.
We first began working with them to complete their Naperville residence in time for their daughter’s wedding, a milestone the client wanted to fully enjoy without the stress of a renovation. As a busy executive, she trusted us to manage every detail so she could focus on her family. We aligned timelines, managed all the moving parts, and delivered a warm, elegant home just in time for the celebration.
That trust continued into Naples. It was easy and seamless to meet during the summer in Chicagoland, where we could present designs in person. Then, while they escaped to Florida in the winter, we handled everything behind the scenes. With retirement fully embraced, he’d merrily drop off a check and stay to chat, knowing everything was taken care of.
We transformed the home, using a design approach rooted in livable luxury and tailored functionality. From custom faux finishes and artisan materials to warm wood tones and natural textures, every detail was curated to enhance the everyday experience, reflect the clients’ unique style and celebrate Florida’s nature.
This warm modern interior design balances comfort and sophistication in every space. The home office became a moody cocoon-like retreat with saturated blue-green walls and custom built-ins framing a chaise, perfect for quiet moments or casual laptop work. The primary bedroom evokes a sense of calm with a faux-finished headboard wall featuring the beautiful Florida foliage. A raffia swivel chair, shagreen nightstands, and alabaster lighting, create a space that is layered with rich textures.
The family room is both stylish and functional, with a textured TV feature wall, a woven raffia chandelier, and a cocktail ottoman that invites relaxation. In the dining room, a metallic glazed faux finish on the ceiling mimics water movement and complements a palm-inspired chandelier, adding subtle drama. The breakfast nook, designed with grandchildren in mind, features a built-in banquette and raffia chair backs, ideal for casual meals and play. Outside, we refreshed the lanai with new outdoor fabrics and a custom oyster shell tabletop, extending the home’s personality and natural textures to the poolside.
This Naples interior design project reflects our commitment to thoughtful, approachable design that supports a luxury lifestyle. Every decision, from ceiling details to layered textures, was made with warmth, function, and beauty in mind. The result is a refined Florida retreat that feels distinctly personal and perfectly livable.
